What are they?
Clothing is mostly made from recyclable fiber and textile material worn on the body.
Why do they need to be sorted?
Clothing fabric generally consists of composites of cotton (biodegradable material) and synthetic plastics. Recycling ensures energy and environmental saving. Textiles sent to the flocking industry are shredded to make filling material for car insulation, loudspeaker cones, furniture padding.
How is it recycled?
Fiber reclamation mills grade incoming material into type and color. The clothing is being broken down and reused. Later, the material is ready for weaving or knitting. The fibers can also be compressed for mattress production.
