What are they?
Examples of recyclable glass are glass bottles and jars. Glass products such as mirrors, heat-resistant glass cannot be recycled.
Why do they need to be sorted?
The glass component in municipal waste is usually made up of bottles, broken glassware, glass jars and other items. The processing and use of recycled glass in manufacturing conserves raw materials and reduces energy consumption. That which is not recycled, but crushed, reduces the volume of waste sent to landfills.
How is it recycled?
After being extracted from containers, the glass is sorted by color and washed to remove any impurities. The material is then crushed and melted and recycled into new products.
