What are they?
Plastics are, typically organic polymers of high molecular mass, but they often contain other substances. They are usually synthetic, most commonly derived from petrochemicals, but many are made from renewable materials such as polylactic acid from corn or cellulose from cotton linters.
Що не приймається?
- блістери з-під зубних щіток та бритв;
- зубні щітки;
- трубочки для напоїв;
- одноразовий посуд;
- пластикову тару від макаронів та круп;
- м’які контейнери, що використовують для пакування харчових продуктів (фруктів, м’яса, сиру і т.д.).
Why do they need to be sorted?
Most plastics are durable and degrade very slowly; the very chemical bonds that make them so durable tend to make them resistant to most natural processes of degradation. Since plastic is non-biodegradable, sorting helps to reduce the high rates of plastic pollution.
How is it recycled?
Plastic recycling includes taking any type of plastic, sorting it into different polymers and then chipping it and then melting it down into pellets. After this stage, it can then be used to make items of any sort such as plastic chairs and tables. Soft Plastics are also recycled such as polyethylene film and bags are also recycled.
